At Holmesdale Infant School we are committed to providing a full educational experience for all our pupils. We believe that if pupils are to benefit from education, regular attendance is essential. Regular and punctual attendance ensures that your child settles and starts the day well, is happy at school and able to take advantage of all that we offer.
If you are struggling in any way with your child attending due to difficult family circumstances, we are here to help. These may be short term or more lengthy difficulties. Whatever the case please contact school to see what we can do to help you. Please notify us of any upcoming medical appointments and if your child is unwell, please call school each day to let us know the situation or to ask us advice on when your child should return.
We are monitoring all attendance and you should all now be able to see your child’s/children’s individual attendance at school on the ParentHub App. This will help you to monitor the time off your child has as well. Each week in school we share with you, which class has had the best overall attendance that week and the class receives a certificate.
Persistent Absenteeism (PA):
A pupil becomes a ‘persistent absentee’ when they miss 10% or more schooling, at any point during the school year. Absence at this level is becoming a barrier to your child learning well. We will work with you to support the improvement of attendance for your child/children and to help overcome whatever the barrier is.
Please see our information about our in-school family support worker, Miss Sutton.
