 Class News-

Autumn 2018

We are all settling into life in Ash class. The children are working well together and beginning to learn the expectations and routine of a Y1 and Y2 class. They are beginning to enjoy their new core groups and are talking about their learning on return to class.

We have started our topic called out and about. This will support all areas of the curriculum- from history to art, maths to technology. We will learn about the history and geography of Dronfield, the construction of the buildings as well as the lives of those inside! PE is on Monday and Wednesday, a mixture of indoor and out door activities.

We will continue with phonics everyday. Spelling investigations  will be on a Wednesday, thank you for helping your child be prepared for it.

We are writing poems and recounts in English, developing correct grammar, interesting vocabulary and sentence construction.

In Maths, we are investigating counting and number patterns, leading onto higher numbers and operations. They are starting to explain how they have arrived at their answers, suggesting different ways of working and exploring a range of resources.

If you could ensure everything your child brings to school is labelled, we would be very grateful. As the term progresses the children will settle more but if you have any concerns please come and speak to a member of Ash staff.
